The turkish drama series Ertugrul took the pakistani audience by storm. It gained immense popularity in a short span of time. The prime minister himself recommending a series meant a lot to the people. People loved the show and all of its characters but of course the two main leads of the drama, Engin Altan Duzyatan playing Ertugrul and Esra Bilgic playing Ertugrul’s wife Halime Sultan topped the list. Within days, their instagram followers escalated. But it doesn’t stop here. Trouble started when Pakistani men took Esras character as Halime a bit too seriously and assumed it to be their duty to remind Esra to maintain her modesty. All of her insta posts in western wear were bombarded with comments to the point that Esra decided to turn the comments off.
Recently, a Pakistani gentleman decided to comment on her recent picture “Please don’t wear such dresses halima baji, not good”. Esra had had it with her desi fans and their moral policing, she had to clap back. Esra wrote, “Let me give you a little advice, don’t follow me. Thank you.”
We hope this will be a lesson for all our Pakistani brothers and sisters to keep their unsolicited advice to themselves.
