PEMRA bans Jalan starring Minal Khan and Emmad irfani

The ARY digital drama Jalan was not received well by the audience as the story was odd and against the religious and social norms of this society. Nisha played by Minal Khan is shown enticing her brother-in-law Asfandyar played by Emmad Irfani. The bold scenes and the choice of dialogues made it an uncomfortable show to watch that was definitely not suited to be a family-show

Viewers began to file complaints against the show. PEMRA reviewed all complaints and gave several warnings to ARY. However, when the channel did not comply with PEMRA’s repeated warnings, the drama serial was banned under Section 27.

PEMRA has also banned the repeat telecast of ARY Digital and Hum TV drama serials Ishqiya and Pyar Ke Sadqay stating that the content of these dramas is damaging to the society. The notification by PEMRA on Friday stated that the ban has been imposed under Section 27 of PEMRA Ordinance.Section 27 (prohibition of broadcast media or distribution service operation) states that broadcasting or re-broadcasting or distributing of any programme is prohibited if PEMRA is of the opinion that the programme is pornographic, obscene, vulgar or is offensive to the commonly accepted standards of decency.
