Add your clips, arrange them on the timeline, cut and adjust them, add text, music and transitions, then press Export and download the finished video. Everything happens in the browser tab, and the export has no watermark.
Drop videos, music and images onto the editor or press Add media.
Drag clips on the timeline, press S to split at the playhead, drag clip edges to trim and press Delete to remove parts.
Select a clip to crop, rotate, change speed, color-correct, remove a green screen, animate with keyframes or add a transition.
Add titles, captions, stickers, music or a voice-over and adjust the volume and fades.
Step 5: Export. Press Export, pick a preset such as YouTube or TikTok or set format, resolution, frame rate and quality yourself, and download the file. The editor re-opens the file afterwards to check it plays.
Everything below works in the export, not only in the preview: the same rendering engine draws the preview and every exported frame.

The editor reads files with a built-in demuxer and decodes them with your browser's hardware-accelerated WebCodecs decoders. If a codec is not supported by your browser (for example HEVC on some Windows or Linux setups), the editor tells you right away instead of failing later.
| Export format | Video codecs | Audio | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| MP4 | H.264, HEVC, AV1, VP9 | AAC (Opus optional) | Phones, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, almost every player. |
| WebM | VP9, AV1, VP8 | Opus | Websites and browsers; small files. |
| MOV | H.264, HEVC | AAC or PCM | QuickTime, Final Cut Pro, iMovie. |
| MKV | H.264, HEVC, VP9, AV1 | Opus, AAC, FLAC | Archiving and desktop players such as VLC. |
| Audio only | — | WAV, MP3, M4A (AAC), OGG (Opus) | Extracting music or voice from a video. |
| Platform | Aspect ratio | Size | Video bitrate |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube | 16:9 | 1920×1080, 30 fps | 12 Mbps |
| YouTube Shorts | 9:16 | 1080×1920, 30 fps | 10 Mbps |
| Instagram Reels / TikTok | 9:16 | 1080×1920, 30 fps | 8 Mbps |
| Instagram feed | 4:5 | 1080×1350, 30 fps | 8 Mbps |
| Facebook / LinkedIn | 16:9 | 1920×1080, 30 fps | 8 Mbps |
| X (Twitter) | 16:9 | 1280×720, 30 fps | 5 Mbps |
Platform limits change. If a platform re-compresses your upload heavily, export at a higher bitrate and resolution than its minimum.
When you open a file, the editor reads it directly from your disk through the browser. Frames are decoded with the WebCodecs API, effects and transitions are drawn with WebGL on your graphics chip, audio is mixed with the Web Audio API, and the final file is encoded and packaged in the same tab. No video, audio or image data is sent to Entertainment Couch or anyone else.
So that you can continue later, the project and a copy of your media are kept in your browser's own storage (IndexedDB) on this device. You can delete saved projects from Project → Open saved projects, or clear the site's data in your browser settings.
The only optional download is the open-source Whisper speech model used for auto captions. It is fetched from Hugging Face the first time you ask for captions, after you confirm, and then cached. Your audio is transcribed on your device.
We prefer to be clear about what browser editing can and cannot do today.
The editor names the codec it could not decode. Most phone and camera videos are H.264 or HEVC in MP4 or MOV. If your browser cannot decode HEVC, try Chrome or Edge with hardware acceleration on, Safari on a Mac or iPhone, or convert the file to H.264 MP4.
Open Advanced in the export panel and choose “Prefer CPU”, pick a lower resolution, or try another codec. Close other heavy tabs to free memory. If hardware encoding fails, the editor automatically retries once with software encoding.
Set the preview quality (next to the volume control) to Fast. The export is always rendered at full quality, frame by frame, so preview stutter never affects the final file.
Bluetooth headphones add delay. The editor compensates using the latency your browser reports; exported files are aligned to the exact audio sample.
Projects are stored in this browser on this device. Private or incognito windows delete storage when closed. Use Project → Save project file to keep a portable copy.

Search, or pick a topic: pricing, how to edit, formats, export, privacy and help.
Yes. Every feature and every export is free, with no paid tier, no daily limit, no length limit and no watermark. There is nothing to unlock.
No. Open the page and start editing. There is no account, email, extension or app to install. The editor runs in your web browser.
No. Exports contain only your own footage, text and graphics. No logo or watermark is ever added.
There is no artificial limit. The practical limit is your device: browsers can open files up to about 8 GB, and long 4K projects need plenty of memory. On a laptop, projects of an hour or more at 1080p work well.
Yes. On phones the editor switches to a vertical layout with a touch timeline and panels that slide up from the bottom. Tap a clip to select it, then drag it to move or drag its edges to trim. Pinch the timeline to zoom.
Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iPhone and iPad. The editor checks what your browser can decode and encode and only offers formats that will work.
Select the clip on the timeline and drag its left or right edge. The preview shows the exact frame at the edge while you drag. Hold Alt to turn off snapping for fine adjustments.
Move the playhead to the start of the part and press S to split, move to the end and press S again, select the middle piece and press Delete. Use Shift+Delete (ripple delete) to close the gap automatically.
Add all the videos, drag them next to each other on the same track in the order you want, optionally add transitions between them, and export. The result is a single file.
Click the empty timeline area to see Project settings and pick 9:16. Then select the clip and use Transform: choose Fill to cover the frame, drag the clip to reposition it, or use Crop on canvas for a precise crop. Background fill adds a blurred copy behind clips that do not fill the frame.
Select the clip, open the Edit tab and pick a speed from 0.25× to 4× or type any value from 0.1× to 16×. Turn on Reverse to play it backwards. Keep voice pitch stops voices sounding higher or lower.
Open the Text panel and click a style. The text appears at the playhead on a track above your video. Edit the words, font, color, outline and animation on the right, and drag it on the preview to place it.
Open the Audio panel and add a music file or press Record voice-over. Music goes on an audio track; drag it to line it up, lower its Volume and add a fade out at the end.
Move the playhead to where an animation should start and press the diamond next to a setting such as Scale or Position. Move the playhead, change the value, and a second keyframe is added. The editor blends smoothly between them.
Put the background video or image on the lower track and the green-screen clip on a track above. Select the green-screen clip, open Effects and turn on Remove background color. Use Pick color from preview for best results, then adjust Similarity and Edge softness.
Yes. Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac) to undo and Ctrl+Shift+Z to redo, up to 150 steps. The undo button shows what will be undone.
MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM, MKV and MPEG-TS with H.264, HEVC (where the browser supports it), VP8, VP9 and AV1 video. Audio files: MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG/Opus and FLAC. Images: PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF and SVG. AVI, WMV and FLV are not supported.
Yes. Add the file to the timeline and export it in the format you want. You can also change resolution, frame rate and quality at the same time.
iPhones record in HEVC by default. Safari and most Mac and recent Windows browsers decode HEVC with hardware support, but some systems cannot. If the editor reports that HEVC is unsupported, open the page in Safari or Edge, or set your iPhone camera to Most Compatible.
At “High” or “Maximum” quality and the same resolution and frame rate as your source, the result is visually lossless for most footage. Every export is re-encoded, so choose a bitrate at least as high as the source for archiving.
Press Export and choose a preset such as YouTube, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels or TikTok. It sets resolution, frame rate and bitrate. If your project has a different shape, the panel offers to switch it to the right aspect ratio.
Yes, if your device’s video encoder supports 4K, which most recent computers and phones do. The export panel only enables resolutions your browser can encode. 4K needs more memory and time.
It depends on your device, the resolution and the effects used. The export panel shows frames per second and the time remaining. With hardware encoding a recent laptop typically exports 1080p faster than real time.
Yes. Press Cancel export at any time. Your project is not affected, and you can change settings and export again.
Choose “Small file” quality, a lower resolution such as 720p, or the HEVC or AV1 codec if offered. The estimated size updates as you change settings.
Press Export, choose Audio only and pick WAV, MP3, M4A or OGG. To save the sound of a single clip, select it and use Extract audio in the Edit tab.
Yes. After export the editor re-opens the file, checks the container, tracks, resolution, frame count and duration, decodes the first and last frames and confirms your browser can play it, then shows the results.
No. Files are read, edited and encoded inside your browser on your own device. Entertainment Couch never receives your videos, audio or images.
In your browser’s private storage on this device, so you can close the tab and continue later. Use Project → Save project file to back up or move a project to another computer.
After you confirm, the editor downloads the open-source Whisper speech model from Hugging Face once and caches it. Transcription then runs locally; your audio is not sent anywhere.
The preview plays in real time and may skip frames on slower devices or with many layers. Set preview quality to Fast. The export always renders every frame at full quality.
Usually memory or an encoder limit. Try a lower resolution, another codec, or “Prefer CPU” under Advanced. The editor automatically retries once with software encoding if the hardware encoder fails.
Yes. Save a project file (.vep) with media included, then open it on the other device with Project → Open project file.
