Free Online Math Games — Play Math Quest

All-in-one math game

Play Math Quest, a free browser math game for kids and adults. Practice addition, subtraction, multiplication tables, division, fractions, geometry, number patterns, speed math and logic puzzles across six game modes. Adaptive learning adjusts to your skill level. No download or sign-up.

About Math Quest

Math Quest is a free browser-based math game from Entertainment Couch. It puts 15 math categories, six game modes and four difficulty levels into one game that you can play on a phone, tablet or computer, with no signup, no download and no payment.

Instead of a separate mini-game for every skill, Math Quest uses one shared game engine. You can move from times tables to fractions to logic puzzles without leaving the page, and your scores, stars and badges follow you between categories. Every question is generated by the game and checked for a single correct answer before it appears.

Math Quest also adapts to you. With adaptive difficulty switched on, the game estimates your level in each category separately on a 10-step scale, raises the difficulty when you answer consistently well and eases off when a topic is giving you trouble. If you keep missing the same kind of problem, it walks you through a couple of guided questions with a tip, then checks again later. You can turn adaptive difficulty off at any time and choose Easy, Medium, Hard or Expert yourself.

How to Play Math Quest

  1. Choose a category from the 15 math categories available on the game screen.
  2. Pick a difficulty: Easy, Medium, Hard or Expert. Leave adaptive difficulty on if you want the game to find your level automatically.
  3. Choose a game mode: Classic, Timed, Endless or Practice. Daily Challenge and Adventure are accessible right from the home screen.
  4. Answer each question by tapping one of the answer cards, pressing keys 1 to 4, or typing your answer with the on-screen number pad.
  5. Read the feedback. A wrong answer displays the correct answer with a short, easy explanation of how to solve it.
  6. Check your results for your score, accuracy, stars and level changes, then play again or switch categories.

Keyboard players can use T and F for True or False, the <, = and > keys for comparisons, Enter for the next question, and P or Esc to pause.

Math Comparison

Choose greater than, less than or equal to for numbers, expressions, fractions and negatives.

Missing Number

Complete equations like 8 + ? = 15 or ? × 6 = 42 with all four operations, then two-step equations.

True or False

Decide whether an equation such as 45 ÷ 5 = 8 is correct, using two large buttons.

Mental Math

Doubling and halving, percentages, multiplication shortcuts, estimation and everyday money and time math.

Math Adventure

A journey through five worlds and 30 stages that mixes challenges from the other categories, with stars and boss rounds.

Free Multiplication Games Online

The Multiplication category is built for times tables practice. You can choose any single table from 1 to 12, combine several tables, or leave them all unselected for a mixed set that follows your level. Beyond the tables, harder levels move on to two-digit by one-digit products, two-digit by two-digit multiplication and decimal multiplication.

When you miss a fact, Math Quest explains a strategy rather than just showing the answer. For 7 × 8, it suggests thinking of 7 × 4 doubled: 7 × 4 = 28, and doubling 28 gives 56. Other explanations use tricks such as multiplying by 10 and subtracting for the 9s table, or halving 10 times a number for the 5s. For speed, try a Timed round, where streaks of 5 correct answers double your points.

Addition, Subtraction, and Division Games

The Addition category starts with small single-digit sums and works up through carrying, multi-digit numbers and decimals. Subtraction covers counting back, borrowing, multi-digit problems, negative numbers and decimals. Division begins with division facts that always have whole-number answers, then adds sharing word problems, long division, dividing by two-digit numbers and decimal division.

Mixed Math shuffles all four operations together and, at higher levels, adds order of operations questions such as 4 + 3 × 5, where you multiply before you add.

Math Puzzles and Logic Challenges

Math Puzzles mixes number riddles (“I’m thinking of a number…”), shape equations where symbols stand for numbers, row-and-column total grids, proportional reasoning and multi-step word problems about sums, ages, coins and consecutive numbers. Number Patterns asks you to find the missing term in sequences that add, subtract, multiply, alternate or follow special rules such as square, triangular and cube numbers. Every puzzle is generated with exactly one valid answer.

Math Games for Kids and Adults

Math Quest is designed to be comfortable for younger students and still challenging for teens and adults. Easy questions use small numbers and plenty of time, while Expert questions include decimal division, fraction division, interior angles of polygons and multi-step reasoning. The game has no chat, no ads inside the game area and no account system, and it does not ask for any personal information. Feedback is written to be encouraging without talking down to anyone.

Math Quest is a practice game, not a curriculum or a test. The levels and mastery estimates it shows are based only on answers given in the game and are not grades or formal assessments.

Difficulty Levels

There are four difficulty levels, and each one changes the math itself, not just the look of the game:

  • Easy: small numbers and basic facts, with no time pressure outside Timed mode.
  • Medium: bigger numbers, carrying and borrowing, and more varied question types.
  • Hard: multi-digit and multi-step problems, negative numbers and more complex patterns.
  • Expert: decimals and fractions in harder operations, advanced sequences and multi-step reasoning.

Behind the four labels sit 10 internal levels. Adaptive difficulty moves you between them gradually, based on a rolling window of about 10 recent answers, so one lucky guess or one slip does not change your level.

Game Modes

ModeHow it works
Classic10 questions, then a results screen with your score, accuracy and up to 3 stars.
TimedAnswer as many as you can in 60 seconds. Streaks of 5 double your points and streaks of 10 triple them.
EndlessQuestions keep coming and get harder as you improve. The run ends after 3 wrong answers, or whenever you exit.
PracticeNo timer and no lives. Hints, explanations for every answer and “try a similar one” questions.
Daily ChallengeThe same 10 mixed questions for everyone on a given date, with your score and daily streak saved on your device.
