Everything you need to analyse a spreadsheet

The features people use most in business intelligence software, without the installation, licence or login.

Free CSV and Excel data visualization

Import CSV, TSV, XLSX, XLS, ODS and JSON files or paste rows from a spreadsheet. Title rows, merged cells and notes are cleaned up and column types are detected automatically.

Google Sheets and multi-sheet workbooks

Paste a public Google Sheets link to import every sheet at once. Excel workbooks keep all their sheets, and sheets with matching columns can be combined into one table.

Chart maker with 11 chart types

Bar, horizontal bar, stacked bar, line, area, pie, donut, scatter and radar charts, plus KPI number cards and summary tables. Group dates by day, week, month, quarter or year.

Online pivot table generator

Summarise any column by rows and columns with sum, average, count, distinct count, median, minimum or maximum. Totals and a colour heatmap make patterns easy to spot.

Interactive dashboard builder

Add charts to a dashboard, resize, reorder and duplicate them. One click builds a starter dashboard from your data automatically.

Filters across every chart

Filter rows by text, numbers or date ranges. Filters apply to the data table, charts, pivot table and dashboard at the same time.

Calculated columns and data cleaning

Add formulas such as profit or margin with spreadsheet-style functions. Remove duplicate rows, trim spaces, drop empty rows, rename columns and change data types.

Column statistics and data profiling

See counts, empty cells, unique values, totals, averages, ranges and the most common value for every column as soon as your file loads.

Export to PDF, PNG and CSV

Preview the dashboard, fit it on one page or several, and download it as a PDF report or an image. Export charts as PNG and data or pivot tables as CSV.

Private by design

Your files are processed locally in your browser and never uploaded, which makes Tabulo suitable for confidential sales, finance or HR data. Work is autosaved on your device.

How to make a dashboard from a CSV or Excel file

From raw spreadsheet to finished report in about two minutes.

Review column types and statistics, remove duplicates and add calculated columns.

  3. 3

    Build charts and pivots

Frequently asked questions

Is Tabulo really free?

Yes. Every feature is free to use, with no trial period, no paid tier and no watermark on exports.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There is no sign up, login or email required. Open the page and start working.

Is my data uploaded to a server?

No. Files are read and processed entirely inside your web browser. Your data is never sent to our servers.

Which file formats can I import?

CSV, TSV, TXT, Excel (XLSX, XLS, XLSM), OpenDocument spreadsheets (ODS) and JSON. You can also paste data copied from Excel or Google Sheets, or import from a link to a public Google Sheet or a CSV, Excel or JSON file.

Can I import a Google Sheet?

Yes. Share the sheet with “Anyone with the link”, choose Import from URL and paste the link. Every sheet in the spreadsheet is imported.

What happens with Excel files that have several sheets?

Every sheet is loaded and you can switch between them above the table. Each sheet keeps its own filters, charts and dashboard, and sheets with the same columns can be combined into one table.

How large a file can I analyse?

It depends on your device's memory. Files with a few hundred thousand rows usually work well on a modern laptop.

How do I save my dashboard?

Your work is saved automatically in your browser. To keep it permanently or move it to another computer, use Save project to download a project file and Open project to load it again.

Can I export my dashboard as a PDF or an image?

Yes. On the Dashboard tab choose Download PDF or Download image. A preview lets you fit everything on one page or spread it over several pages, in A4 or US Letter, landscape or portrait. Single charts download as PNG and any table as CSV.

Is Tabulo a free alternative to Power BI or Tableau?

For quick analysis, ad-hoc reports and one-off dashboards from spreadsheet files, yes. Enterprise BI platforms offer things Tabulo does not, such as live database connectors, scheduled refresh and team permissions.
