No account, no watermark and no server. Your form is built on your own device.
If you want a good-looking form without signing in to Google, Microsoft or Typeform, Fieldwork gives you a form you own outright. Use your own branding, host it on your own website, and choose where responses go. It is ideal for small businesses, teachers, event organisers, clubs and freelancers who need a quick, free form creator.
Search or browse the questions below to learn how the builder, sharing and PDF export work.
Yes, completely. There is no sign-up, no watermark, no limit on the number of fields and no paid version. The builder runs in your own browser, so there are no server costs to pass on to you.
No. Open the page, pick a template or start from a blank form, and begin adding fields. There is nothing to register and nothing to install.
Contact forms, event RSVPs, job applications, feedback and survey forms, order forms, workshop sign-ups, newsletter sign-ups, and any other form that collects answers from people. You add the questions, style it, preview it and export it as a ready-to-use web page.
Choose a template or Blank form, then click fields on the left to add them, or drag them onto the form. Click any field to change its question, options and settings in the Edit panel. When it looks right, press Preview to test it and Export to get the finished form.
Yes. It works on Android phones, iPhones, iPads and tablets, as well as Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook computers. On a phone, the tabs at the bottom switch between Add, Form, Edit and Preview.
Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox. Some styling uses modern browser features, so very old browsers may show a plainer layout. If something looks wrong, update your browser first.
There is no limit on fields, options or questions. One draft is autosaved at a time; to keep several forms, save a backup file of each one from the Export window.
You need a connection to load the builder. After that, editing and previewing work on your device. The exported form needs a connection to send answers and to load its web font.
It covers the everyday job of building a good-looking form that you own outright, with no account and no branding. It doesn't include a built-in response dashboard, multi-page forms, conditional logic, payments or calculations.
Yes. Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) undoes the last change. On the form, Enter or Space selects a field, Alt+Up and Alt+Down move it, and Delete or Backspace removes it. Press ? to open these questions and Escape to close a window.
Click Help in the top bar at any time to open these questions in a window over your form, with search and categories, without losing your place.
Click a field type in the Add panel and it appears below the field you have selected, or at the end of the form. On a computer you can also drag a field type to the exact spot you want.
Drag a field to a new position on a computer, or select it and use the up and down arrows in its toolbar. With the keyboard, select it and press Alt+Up or Alt+Down.
Click the field on the form. The Edit panel opens its settings, where you can change the question, placeholder, help text, options, width and whether it is required. Changes appear on the form as you type.
Use the copy or bin button in the field's toolbar, or the Duplicate and Delete buttons at the bottom of the Edit panel. A deleted field can be brought back with Undo.
Click the title area at the top of the form, or open the Form tab in the Edit panel. You can also change the button text and the thank-you message there.
People can't send the form until they answer it. Required questions are marked with a star, and if someone misses one, the form scrolls to it and points it out.
A full-width field takes the whole row. Two half-width fields sit side by side on larger screens, which suits pairs like first and last name. On phones, half-width fields stack automatically so they stay easy to fill in.
Placeholder is a light grey example inside an empty box, such as jane@example.com. Help text is a short hint shown under the question, such as Use the email you check most often. Help text stays visible while people type, so put anything important there.
Select a dropdown, single choice or checkbox question. In the Options list, type to rename an option, use the arrow to move it up, the cross to remove it, and Add option for a new one. Pressing Enter in an option adds a new one right below it.
Add a Section title field where each part begins, with an optional subtitle. A Divider adds a simple line, and a Text block adds instructions or notes between questions.
Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) or the undo arrow in the top bar. Many recent steps are kept, including deleted fields, template changes and style changes.
Open Templates and choose Blank form, or remove every field from the Form tab with Remove all fields. Both can be undone straight away if you change your mind.
Yes. Download the PDF from the Export window and print it. Turn off Fillable fields if you only want a paper version.
Not at the moment. Every form is a single page. Section titles and dividers help break a longer form into clear parts.
Short answer, Long answer, Email, Phone, Number, Website link, Dropdown, Single choice, Checkboxes, Star rating, Agreement, Date, Time and File upload, plus Picture, Section title, Text block and Divider for layout.
Use single choice when there are a few options people should see at a glance, roughly up to six. Use a dropdown for longer lists, such as products or countries, so the form stays compact.
At least one box must be ticked before the form can be sent. If none are ticked, the question is outlined and a short message asks the person to choose an option.
Yes. It checks that the answer looks like an email address, such as name@example.com, before the form is sent. It can't check that the address actually exists.
No, because phone formats vary so much between countries. On phones it opens the number keypad to make typing easier. Add help text if you need a particular format.
Yes. Select a Number field and fill in Minimum and Maximum. Answers outside that range are pointed out before the form is sent.
They use the date and time pickers built into each person's browser and phone, so they feel familiar and work well with touch.
People tap or click a star to choose a score. You can offer 3, 5, 7 or 10 stars, and the answer is sent as a number, such as 4.
It is a single tick box for things like accepting terms or agreeing to be contacted. Make it required when people must agree before sending. A ticked box is sent as Yes.
A full web address, including https:// at the start. The form points out answers that aren't a valid link.
People choose a file from their device, and you can limit it to images, documents or PDFs. Files are only delivered if your response address belongs to a service that accepts file uploads; some services offer this only on paid plans, so check yours first.
Each answer is labelled with its question text, so responses are easy to read in your email or dashboard. If two questions have the same text, the second gets a number, such as Email (2).
Add a Picture field from Layout and pictures, then click Upload picture in the Edit panel. You can add a caption and set it to full or half width.
JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP and SVG. Large photos are resized to a sensible width automatically so your form stays quick to load.
No. Pictures are read on your device and built straight into your form, so the exported file contains them and doesn't depend on any image host.
It describes the picture for people using screen readers, and it is shown if a picture can't load. A short sentence about what the picture shows is enough.
Open the Style tab and click Upload logo. It appears above the form title and follows the title alignment.
In the Style tab, pick one of the patterns, such as Waves, Dots or Confetti, which take on your accent colour. Choose Upload to use your own banner picture, or None for no header.
Yes. Pick a colour theme in the Style tab, then use Custom accent color to set your exact brand colour. Buttons, stars, ticks and header patterns all follow it.
Yes. The button text switches between dark and light automatically, depending on how light your accent colour is.
Sans-serif fonts such as DM Sans, Outfit, Nunito, Space Grotesk and IBM Plex Sans, the serif fonts Fraunces and Playfair Display, or System, which uses each device's own font and needs no download.
Yes. Choose the Midnight or Pine night theme in the Style tab for a dark background with light text.
Corners set how rounded the card, boxes and button are, from Sharp to Pill. Title alignment puts the title, description and button on the left or in the centre.
Contact us, Event RSVP, Job application, Customer feedback, Order form, Workshop sign-up, Quick survey and Newsletter sign-up, plus a Blank form.
Yes. Every question, option, colour, font, header and message can be edited, removed or added to. Templates are just a starting point.
The template replaces what is on the form. Press Undo in the message that appears, or Ctrl+Z, to get your previous form back. Your response address is kept when you switch.
Save a backup file from the Export window. Open it whenever you want to start a new form from it, then change what you need.
Press Preview and fill it in like a visitor would. Required questions, email checks and number limits all work, and after sending you see exactly what would be submitted.
No. In Preview, answers stay on your device and are only shown back to you. Nothing is sent until you export the form with a response address and someone fills it in.
Yes. On a computer, switch Preview between Desktop and Phone. On a phone, the Preview tab already shows the phone layout.
Click Fill it out again on the thank-you screen, or Clear answers at the top of the preview.
Yes. Once the form is online, send one test answer to make sure it reaches your email or dashboard. Some services ask you to confirm the first submission before they start delivering.
Create a free form endpoint with a service such as Formspree, Getform or Basin, then paste its web address into Where responses go in the Form tab. Every submission then arrives in that service's dashboard and usually in your email too.
It is a web address that receives form answers and stores or forwards them for you. Form services create one for each form you set up, usually in a few clicks and with a free plan.
Because it runs entirely in your browser with no account and no database. That keeps it free and private, and lets you choose where your answers are kept.
The form works and shows your thank-you message, but answers aren't sent anywhere. The Export window reminds you when no address is set.
That depends on your form service. Most send an email notification for each submission and let you choose the address it goes to.
Yes, through your form service. Most offer CSV or Excel downloads, and some connect to Google Sheets, Slack or other tools.
It works with services that accept a standard HTML form sent by POST and reply with a success status, which covers the popular ones. The exported form sends answers in the background and shows your thank-you message when they arrive.
Use your form service's spam protection, such as filtering, a hidden honeypot field or a captcha, which most services offer in their settings. Fieldwork doesn't add its own spam filter.
Your thank-you heading and message, which you can change in the Form tab. If sending fails, they are told the response couldn't be sent and can try again, and their answers stay filled in.
Not from Fieldwork. Your form service may limit monthly submissions on its free plan, so check its pricing if you expect a lot of answers.
Press Export, then choose Download HTML or Copy HTML code. You get one complete file with the design, pictures and checks built in.
Upload the HTML file to your website or hosting and link to it, or show it on a page inside an embed or iframe block. You can also paste the code into a custom HTML block if your website builder supports full pages.
Free static hosting services such as GitHub Pages, Netlify and Cloudflare Pages can host the file and give you a link to share.
Yes. The most reliable way is to host the file and add it with the platform's embed or iframe block, so the form keeps its own styling and doesn't affect the rest of your site.
Press Share for a link you can copy, send by email or WhatsApp, post on X, Facebook or LinkedIn, or turn into a QR code. You can also host the exported HTML file and share its address.
Yes. Your draft stays in this browser, or you can open a backup file. Make your changes, export again and replace the old file on your website.
A small .json file with everything about your form: questions, settings, style and pictures. Open it from the Export window with Open a backup to keep editing on any device.
Send them your backup file. They can open it in Fieldwork, make changes and send a new backup back to you.
Yes. It is plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and the form's styles all use class names starting with fx-, so they are easy to find and change.
Yes. It adapts to any screen size, stacks half-width fields on narrow screens, uses large tap targets and opens the right keyboard for emails, numbers and phone numbers.
Press Share and copy the link. Anyone who opens it sees your form, ready to fill in, on any phone or computer. Their answers go to the response address you set in the Form tab.
Just your form, full screen, with your colours, header and thank-you message. They don't see the builder and don't need an account.
The whole form is compressed and stored inside the link itself. Nothing is saved online, so the link keeps working as long as the page it points to is available.
Because it carries the complete form. Pictures make it much longer, so they are left out automatically when they would make the link too long. You can switch them on or off with Include pictures and logo.
Yes. The Share window has buttons for email, WhatsApp, X, Facebook and LinkedIn, and on phones a Share button that opens your phone's own share menu.
Open Share. A QR code of your link is made automatically; click Download QR code to save it as a PNG for posters, flyers, menus or slides.
No. Each link holds the version of the form it was made from. After changes, share the new link from the Share window. A hosted HTML file can be replaced instead if you want one address that never changes.
No. There's no server and no account, so there's nothing to expire.
Yes. Copy the embed code from the Share window and paste it into an HTML or embed block on your site.
A link that opens the form inside Fieldwork so someone else can change it, for example a teammate. Opening it doesn't change your own form.
To the copy of Fieldwork you made them in. If you upload the Fieldwork file to your own website, links you share from there use your own web address.
Open Export, choose A4 or US Letter, and press Download PDF. You get a clean, printable version of your form with your header, logo and pictures.
A PDF with real boxes people can type into and tick in Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview on Mac, Edge or Chrome, then save and send back. Turn off Fillable fields for a plain version to print and fill in by hand.
No. People save the filled-in PDF and return it to you, for example by email. For automatic collection, share the link or the exported HTML form.
Text answers become boxes, choices become circles, checkboxes become squares, star ratings become numbered choices and file uploads ask people to attach their file separately. Half-width questions sit side by side.
Helvetica for sans-serif themes and Times for serif themes such as Fraunces and Playfair Display, so the PDF opens the same everywhere.
The standard PDF fonts cover English and other Western European languages. Scripts such as Hindi, Arabic, Chinese or Cyrillic can't be shown in them, and you'll see a message when that happens. Share a link or the HTML form for those languages instead.
No. Your form is built, previewed and exported entirely inside your browser, on your own device. When you share a link, the form travels inside the link itself rather than being stored on a server.
In your browser's own storage on the device you are using. It is saved automatically as you work, and it won't appear on other devices or in other browsers.
Browsers limit how much each page can store, and large pictures fill it quickly. Use smaller pictures, or save a backup file from the Export window so you don't lose your work.
Private or incognito windows forget everything when they close, and clearing your browsing data removes saved drafts too. Save a backup file to keep your work safe.
Open Templates and choose Blank form, or remove all fields. Clearing this site's data in your browser settings removes the draft completely.
Only you and your form service. Answers go straight from the visitor's browser to the address you set, without passing through Fieldwork.
Your form service handles the answers, so choose one that meets your privacy needs and local rules. For health, financial or identity details, check the service's security and data location before collecting them.
Web fonts from Google Fonts, and, only when you use them, a PDF maker (jsPDF) and a QR code maker from jsDelivr. Your form, pictures and answers are never sent anywhere by the builder.
Every question has a proper label, choices are grouped with their question, required fields are marked, and the forms work fully with a keyboard and screen readers. Clear focus outlines show where you are.
Write short, plain questions, add help text instead of relying on placeholders, describe every picture, keep enough contrast between text and background, and only make the questions you really need required.
Yes. Tab moves between questions, arrow keys move between choices and stars, Space ticks boxes and Enter sends the form.
Yes. Type your questions, options, button and messages in any language. Browser messages, such as a reminder to fill in a required field, appear in each visitor's own browser language.
Check that the response address is copied exactly from your form service and that the form is active there. Some services ask you to confirm your email or the first submission before they accept answers.
Downloads aren't available in some views. Use Copy HTML code, paste it into a text editor and save the file with a name ending in .html.
Part of the link was cut off when it was copied or sent, which happens most with long links. Copy it again with the Copy link button, turn off pictures to shorten it, or host the exported HTML file for a short address.
QR codes can only hold a limited amount of text. Turn off Include pictures and logo, shorten long help texts, or host the exported HTML file and make a QR code of its shorter address.
The PDF maker downloads the first time you use it, so check your internet connection and try again. If your browser asks whether to allow downloads, choose Allow.
Some phone PDF viewers only show forms. Open it in Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is free, or fill it in on a computer.
Your browser may have blocked copying. Click inside the code box, select everything with Ctrl+A (Cmd+A on a Mac) and copy it with Ctrl+C (Cmd+C).
Dragging is for mouse and trackpad. On touch screens, select the field and use the up and down arrows in its toolbar.
Make sure it is a JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP or SVG file. Photos straight from some phones, such as HEIC, need converting to JPG first.
The exported form loads its font from Google Fonts. If a network blocks it, a similar standard font is shown instead. Choose System in the Style tab for a font that never needs downloading.
Check that your form service accepts file uploads and that your plan includes them. Some services ignore files on free plans.
At least one option must be ticked. If none of the options fit, add an option such as None or Other.
Give the embed or iframe enough width and height, ideally full width. The form adapts to the space it gets, and narrow spaces use the phone layout.
Only .json files saved from Fieldwork's Export window can be opened. Make sure you chose the backup file, not the exported HTML file.
As short as possible. Ask only what you will use, put the easiest questions first, and use sections to break up anything longer than about ten questions.
Say in the description how long it takes, keep required questions to a minimum, pair short fields side by side, and make the button say what happens, such as Send my RSVP.
Confirm that the answer arrived and say what happens next and when, for example: We'll reply within one working day.
Use your logo and brand colour, stick to one font, keep questions consistent in style, and add a header picture that suits your brand.
Start from the closest template, delete what you don't need, rename the rest, then set your colour and logo. Most forms are ready in a few minutes.
Every template is fully editable: fields, colors, fonts and pictures.
Send a link that opens your form on any phone or computer, ready to fill in.
Get a single HTML file that works on any website or hosting service.
