Add your PDFs, drag them into the order you want, choose pages or rotate files if needed, then press Merge PDF and download the result. It takes under a minute and needs no account or software.
Drop PDFs on the page or press Choose files. Images can go in too.
Drag cards by the handle, use the arrows, or sort by name, date or size.
Choose pages, rotate a file, set the page size, name the file and add bookmarks.
Press Merge PDF, check the page preview and download your combined PDF.
Besides joining files, Merge PDF lets you choose and reorder pages inside each file, rotate files, mix in images, unlock password-protected PDFs, repair hard-to-read files, add bookmarks and make every page the same size.
Each file shows its position number. Drag it, nudge it with the arrows or keyboard, or sort the whole list naturally by name so “part 2” comes before “part 10”.
Open the page picker to tap the pages you want from each file, or type a range. Ranges can run backwards (9-1) and repeat pages, so you can reorder inside a file too.
Pages from normal PDFs are copied as they are, with their fonts, images and vector graphics. Nothing is re-compressed, so the merged PDF looks exactly like the originals.
PDFs locked against editing, files that need a password and files the main engine cannot read are added as sharp page images, so they still make it into your document.
Add JPG, PNG or WebP images between your PDFs: scans, receipts, photos of ID cards or signatures. Each image becomes a page in the position you choose.
Make every page A4 or US Letter, add a bookmark for each file and insert blank pages so each file starts on a new sheet when printing double-sided.
Open this page in your browser, add the PDFs from your files app or file manager, drag them into order and press Merge PDF. The same steps work on every device, with no app to install.
In Safari, tap Choose files and pick PDFs from Files or iCloud Drive. Hold the handle on a card to drag it. After merging, tap Download PDF and save to Files, or share it straight to Mail or WhatsApp.
In Chrome or Samsung Internet, tap Choose files and select several PDFs at once. On phones the files show as a list, so dragging up and down is easy. The merged PDF is saved to Downloads.
Windows has no built-in PDF merger. Open this page in Edge, Chrome or Firefox and drag PDFs straight from File Explorer onto the drop area. Hold Ctrl or Shift in the file picker to select several files.
Drag PDFs from Finder onto the page, or select several files in the file picker. Preview can also combine PDFs, but Merge PDF adds page ranges, page sizing, bookmarks and duplex blank pages.
It is safe with Merge PDF, because your files are not uploaded. The tool runs in your browser tab, reads files from your device, builds the merged PDF in memory and hands it back to you. Nothing is stored or sent to a server.
Many online PDF mergers upload your documents to their servers, process them there and keep them for a period of time. That is a risk for contracts, payslips, bank statements, medical letters and passport scans. Merge PDF uses the browser’s File API to read files locally, and two open-source PDF engines running on your device to do the work.
Passwords you type to unlock a protected PDF are used only on your device to open that file and are never saved.
Type page numbers and ranges separated by commas, such as 1-3, 5, 8-. A dash joins a range, an open end means “to the end” or “from the start”, and a backwards range reverses the pages. Pages are merged in the order you type them.
| You type | Pages merged (from a 10-page file) | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| 1-3 | 1, 2, 3 | Keeping the first part of a file |
| 1-3, 5, 8- | 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10 | Dropping pages you do not need |
| -4 | 1, 2, 3, 4 | Everything up to a page |
| 7- | 7, 8, 9, 10 | Everything from a page onwards |
| 10-1 | 10, 9, 8 … 1 | Reversing a file scanned back to front |
| 2, 1, 3- | 2, 1, 3, 4 … 10 | Swapping pages inside a file |
| 1, 1 | 1, 1 | Repeating a page, such as a form cover |
You can also tap pages in the page picker, or use All, None, Odd, Even and Invert. Tapping keeps pages in their original order; typing lets you set any order.
Merge PDF is free, needs no install and keeps files on your device, while also offering page ranges, bookmarks and page sizing that free tools often leave out. Desktop PDF editors offer more editing but usually cost money, and many free websites upload your files.

Who makes the tool, how the merging engine works and the standards behind it.
Merge PDF is designed and maintained by Entertainment Couch, which also publishes a set of free online tools and free browser games. It was last updated on .
Original bookmarks inside each file are replaced by one bookmark per file. Fillable form fields may stop being fillable after merging, so fill and save forms first. Pages added as images, from locked or damaged files, cannot be searched or copied.
All run in your browser, with nothing to install.

Merge PDF is a free online tool from Entertainment Couch that combines two or more PDF files into one PDF. You drag the files into the order you want, choose which pages to keep, and download a single file. Everything runs inside your web browser, so your documents are never uploaded to a server.
Yes. Every feature is free with no watermark, no daily limit, no trial and no paid version. You do not need to enter an email address or create an account.
No. Open the page, add your files and merge. There is no account, no app to install and no browser extension. It works in any modern browser on desktop, tablet and phone.
There is no fixed limit on the number of files or pages. The practical limit is your device’s memory: a laptop usually handles hundreds of files and thousands of pages, while an older phone may slow down with several hundred megabytes of PDFs.
There is no file size cap, because files are not uploaded. Very large merges (over about 300 MB in total) depend on how much memory your device and browser can use. If a merge stops, close other tabs or split the job into two merges.
No. The merged PDF contains only your pages. Nothing is stamped, added or branded on any page.
Anyone who needs one PDF from several: students combining assignment parts, job seekers joining a cover letter, CV and certificates, office workers assembling reports and invoices, and anyone sending scanned documents to a landlord, bank or government office.
Add your PDFs by dropping them on the page or pressing Choose files. Drag the cards into the order you want, optionally choose pages or rotate a file, then press Merge PDF and download the combined file. The whole process usually takes under a minute.
Each file shows a number that is its position in the merged PDF. Drag a file by its handle to move it, use the arrow buttons on each card, or pick a sort option such as name A to Z. The merged PDF follows the numbers exactly.
Yes. Use the Sort menu to order files by name (A to Z or Z to A, with numbers sorted naturally so file 2 comes before file 10), by date modified, by size, or to reverse the current order.
Yes. Tab to a file’s drag handle and use the arrow keys to move it one place, or Home and End to move it to the start or end. Press Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on a Mac) to merge.
Yes. Press Add files or drop more files anywhere on the page. New files are added to the end of the list and you can drag them into place.
Press the remove button on its card. A message appears with an Undo button in case you removed the wrong file.
Merging needs at least two files. To take pages out of one PDF, add it together with any other file, or use the page picker to keep only the pages you need from each.
Yes. Press the pages button on a file to open the page picker. Tap pages to include or exclude them, use All, None, Odd or Even, or type a page range such as 1-3, 5, 8-. Only the chosen pages are merged.
Separate pages and ranges with commas. 1-3 means pages 1 to 3, 7- means page 7 to the end, -4 means pages 1 to 4, and 5-1 means pages 5 down to 1 in reverse order. Spaces are ignored.
Yes. Type the pages in the order you want in the page range box, for example 3, 1, 2 or 10-1 to reverse a file. You can also repeat a page, for example 1, 1, to include it twice.
Yes. The rotate button turns all pages of that file 90 degrees clockwise each time you press it. The rotation is saved in the merged PDF, and the original file is not changed.
Turn on Add blank pages for double-sided printing. A blank page is added after any file that ends on an odd page, so every file starts on the front of a new sheet when you print on both sides.
Yes. Under Page size choose A4, US Letter or Match first page. Each page is scaled to fit and centred on the new size, and portrait or landscape is kept for each page. Keep original sizes leaves every page exactly as it is.
Yes. Add JPG, PNG or WebP images alongside your PDFs. Each image becomes one page in the merged PDF, in the position you drag it to. This is a quick way to add a photo of a receipt or ID card to a document.
Yes, if you know the password. A file that needs a password to open shows a password box on its card. Enter the password and the file is unlocked on your device and merged as page images, so its text will not be selectable.
Some PDFs open normally but are locked against changes. Merge PDF detects these and adds their pages as high-resolution images instead, so they still look right. Text in those pages will not be selectable or searchable.
Often, yes. If the main engine cannot read a file but the preview engine can, the file is repaired by adding its pages as high-resolution images. Files that neither engine can read are marked so you can remove them.
Page content, images, fonts and most links on a page are kept. Original bookmarks inside each file are not carried over, but you can add one bookmark per file. Fillable form fields may stop being fillable, so fill in forms before merging.
Yes. Add a bookmark for each file is on by default. The merged PDF gets a bookmarks panel with one entry per file, named after the file, which jumps to the first page of that file.
No. Pages from normal PDFs are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and searchable and images keep their original resolution. Only locked, password-protected or damaged files are added as images, and those use about 150 to 200 dpi.
The merged PDF is usually close to the total size of the files you added. Shared fonts and images are not combined across files, so the result can be slightly larger. The Compact file option stores PDF objects more efficiently to keep the size down.
Yes. Type a name in the File name box before you merge. The name is also used as the document title that PDF readers show.
No. Merge PDF only reads your files. The originals on your device stay exactly as they were, and the merged PDF is saved as a new file.
The merged file is a standard PDF that opens in Adobe Acrobat Reader, Apple Preview, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox and any other PDF reader.
No. Your PDFs are read and merged by code that runs in your browser tab. No file content is sent to Entertainment Couch or anyone else, which makes Merge PDF suitable for contracts, bank statements, medical letters and ID documents.
It depends on the tool. Many online mergers upload your files to their servers. Merge PDF does not: the merging happens on your own device, and the files are cleared from memory when you close or reload the page.
No. The merged PDF exists only in your browser until you download it. There is no history, cloud storage or sharing link.
Once the page has fully loaded, merging works without a connection, because nothing needs to be sent to a server. Reloading the page needs a connection again.
Open this page in Safari, tap Choose files and pick PDFs from Files, iCloud Drive or another storage app. Drag the cards into order, tap Merge PDF, then tap Download and save the file to Files or share it.
Open this page in Chrome or Samsung Internet, tap Choose files and select your PDFs. Drag the cards into order, tap Merge PDF and download. The merged PDF goes to your Downloads folder.
Windows has no built-in PDF merger. Open this page in Edge, Chrome or Firefox, drag your PDFs from File Explorer onto the page, put them in order and press Merge PDF. The file is saved to your Downloads folder.
Drag your PDFs from Finder onto this page, set the order and press Merge PDF. macOS Preview can also combine PDFs by dragging page thumbnails between files, but it has no page range box, blank-page option or page size option.
Yes. It runs in Chrome on ChromeOS like any other web page. Pick files from the Files app or Google Drive.
The file is either not a real PDF (for example a renamed Word file), is badly damaged, or is a format the tool does not support. Open it in a PDF reader to check it. If it opens there, try saving or printing it to a new PDF, then add that file.
This usually means the device ran out of memory. Close other tabs and apps, then try again. For very large jobs, merge half the files, then merge that result with the other half.
Previews are drawn on your device from the file itself. If a file is locked or damaged, its preview may be missing, but merging still works and the file shows a plain PDF icon instead.
Some browsers ask for permission before saving, or block downloads inside embedded frames. Look for a download prompt or icon in the address bar, allow it, and press Download again.
